NEW CHIEF TECHNICAL OFFICER JOINS MANAGEMENT TEAM AT ASTRATA GROUP, INC
LOS ANGELES, CA - Astrata Group Inc. (OTC BB: ATTG), an international provider of innovative location-based IT services and solutions, announced today that it has appointed Stewart Cannon to the newly created position of Chief Technical Officer.
Cannon, age 47, brings to the Company more than 25 years of experience developing and managing technical services and solutions for major geo-technology companies. He has participated in international field operations on all six habitable continents giving him a familiarity with client habits and needs across a broad range of cultures and business climates. Most recently, he has been a Principal at GeoPerception Inc., a San Diego-based technology consultancy and strategic software development company. Prior to GeoPerception, his previous employers include Pelagos, Inc. and Racal Pelagos, Inc., both in San Diego, California, and Thales GeoSolutions Group, London.
At Astrata, Cannon's responsibilities will include managing the development of systems based on the Company's proprietary Geolocation Platform (Astrata-GLP, known as "Sirius" outside the US). The GLP integrates customizable global positioning and wireless communications with a sophisticated computer processor and operating system in a device half the size of a typical mobile phone. Cannon will oversee the development, evolution and integration of software and hardware to provide solutions to Astrata clients. Cannon will also coordinate current and establish long-range technical objectives. This will include new products and product lines necessary to maintain and advance the Company's penetration of this large and rapidly growing market.
Recently, a number of large users of telematics equipment and software have chosen Astrata as their preferred provider. These include high profile companies and government institutions such as the Singapore government and Romec Services Ltd. (51% owned by the U.K.'s Royal Mail).
